The work on this animation film is the inspiration behind the upcoming solo exhibition of Valdis Brože in Art gallery Putti – “White Pate”. It will be on display from November 6 until November 24, 2015. The animation film “It`s about time” tells a story about time, and the fact that it cannot be stopped. The main character is a man who is made of silver and mammoth bone. Time goes by and the old man has decided to leave the room he lives in, which is full of memories about the things he experienced once. When working on this project, the artist had new ideas, he had an urge to develop them and bring in new stories, which would be told through his jewellery.
Lielais Kristaps National Film Festival is a Latvian film festival. It is the highest prize awarded in the Latvian cinema.

Exhibition participants are Latvian contemporary jewellery artists Andris Lauders, Guntis Lauders, Māris Auniņš, Māris Šustiņš and Valdis Brože.
The scenography elements in the exhibition are done by internationally acclaimed fashion brand “MAREUNROL`S” (Mārīte Mastiņa and Rolands Pēterkops), taking in mind the ancient nature of the amber and its historical meaning. They combined it with the resident of our planet since before Christianity, the neighbour of dinosaurs – the ant. In the exhibition one can see how the amber road crosses the roads of ants, which has actually happened – the evidence is seen in the amber pieces which are found with encapsulated ants.
Conversations with amber – this is what the exhibition is all about. In some way jewellery artist`s dialog with amber is a battle of two giants, where outstanding sense of the material and intellectual investment is needed. It is still upon discussion how much amber should be intervened by changing it, for it not to be destroyed. Every amber piece is unique in its colour, form and texture – therefore it is very important to preserve its natural beauty by adjusting the design of the jewellery piece to the amber not adjusting the amber to the design.
Amber has been through a lot and it is a powerful conversation companion, who asks for a partner of the same intelligence – the jewellery artist, the jewellery piece wearer and also the viewing audience.
Entrance in the exhibition is free of charge.
]]>A piece of artist’s jewelry as well as a painting or a piece of sculpture is a work of art. Coming from the same creative approach, it possesses the same force, poetry and ability to provoke, sometimes even the same humor. It is only their ultimate purpose that distinguishes one from the other.
From Picasso to Kapoor, Indiana to Koons, Braque to Liechtenstein, Vasarely to Stella, Arman to Rauschenberg and Cesar to Dali, the collection that Diane Venet has put together nearly 200 pieces – tiny precious works of art that question the meaning and function of jewelry.
The value of a piece of artist’s jewelry cannot be measured in carats. It is not judged by its hallmark, sparkle or transparency. Each jewel, conceived as a work of wearable art, contains a story and was created by the artist with a particular person in mind. To gather even a small understanding of the stories behind these works one has to think of the pebbles gathered on the beach and then painted by Picasso for Dora Maar, or pieces of bone on which the engraved portrait of Marie-Thérèse.
After stopping in Roubaix, New York, Athens, Valencia, Miami and Seoul, the incredible collection gathered over the years by Diane Venet, Parisian collector of origin and New Yorker by adoption, wife of renowned artist Bernar Venet, has arrived for the first time in Italy, in VITRARIA Glass +A Museum with “Precious – from Picasso to Koons”.
VITRARIA Glass + A Museum is a new museum that opened its doors in September 2014 in the heart of Venice, located at the beginning of the “museum mile” between the Academy and the Zattere.
The exhibition will be on display until August 16, 2015.
]]>By pictorial mediation with colourful cotton fabric pieces, each dress in the collection is made in the likeness of a mandala. In correspondence to the fashion trends for summer 2015 nostalgia for the 70s fashion, hippies, flower power and artistic bohemia is embodied in the collection. Ilze says about her collection: “A rose will be able to blossom in this dress, to dance and feel special in the hot summer nights.”
Ilze Līdere has received a bachelor degree in Fashion and Design from The Latvian Academy of Arts. She has been engaged in the fashion business and floral design. Her creative work has always been connected to her love towards flowers – this has resulted in interplay between fashion and floral design.

The history of Torre Fornello dates back to year 1028. Then the estate was bought by Duke Zanardi Landi. He created a beautiful botanical garden and wine fields. In 1972 the estate was bought by Sgorbati family (the grandfather of Enrico) and in 1998 Enrico started to produce wines of the highest quality.
In the opening event the guests had the opportunity to view the fantastic jewellery exhibition, to enjoy the wines together with different foods from the region – all of this in amazing company in a picturesque location… a fantastic combination for the mind, senses and emotions.

Cominelli Foundation, in carrying out its cultural activities has now come up with an articulated project where it becomes a reference point for the applied arts, not only for exhibitions, but also as a place where applied art “is done”; it does this by organising workshops and conferences on the subject; of this complex panorama it has chosen to present and delve into some sectors only: photography, ceramics and jewellery.
