In connection with Latvia holding the Presidency of European Union in the first half of 2015, Art gallery PUTTI in collaboration with different organizations is proud to offer a travelling exhibition which will contain different Latvian jewellery artists` works with our treasure – amber. The exhibition will be on display in three different countries.

From March 3 until March 12, 2015 in collaboration with United Nations Office at Geneva, Art gallery PUTTI presents the exhibition WHAT ELSE DOES AMBER HAVE IN MIND? , which will be on display in the Palais des Nations, Salle des Pas Perdus, Geneve, Switzerland.

The scenography elements, idea, concept in the exhibition are done by internationally acclaimed fashion tandem MAREUNROL`S (Mārīte Mastiņa and Rolands Pēterkops), taking in mind the ancient nature of the amber and its historical meaning. They combined it with the resident of our planet since before Christianity, the neighbour of dinosaurs – the ant. In the exhibition one can see how the amber road crosses the roads of ants, which has actually happened – the evidence is seen in the amber pieces which are found with encapsulated ants.

Art gallery PUTTI expresses its gratitude to the Latvian Ambassador to the United Nations, Raimonds Jansons, as well as to the Latvian Permanent Representation to the United Nations, Kristīne Šāvēja and Diana Kazina, for their great contribution to the successful representation of Latvia and, in the long run, creating a unique opportunity to create the image of Latvia and promote the performance of Latvian artists internationally. We think that this could serve as a good example for organizing such representative events.

From May 26 until July 3, 2015 in collaboration with representatives from the Latvian embassy in Great Britain, Art gallery PUTTI presents the exhibition curated by jewellery designer Ivonna Poplanska AMBER – THE BALTIC JEWEL, which will be on display in the Goldsmiths` Centre in London, United Kingdom.

Latvian Design and Art Week presents an exhibition of traveling Latvian contemporary amber jewellery created by Art Gallery PUTTI.

11 September, 2015, Theatre House JŪRAS VĀRTI opens jewellery exhibition titled
AMBER IN LATVIAN CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY,
 created in collaboration with the Art Gallery PUTTI

The Presidency is an opportunity to influence the EU agenda and guide EU endeavours in different areas. The exhibition will celebrate this historical event and showcase how Latvia’s prized mineral – amber – can be reborn in contemporary jewellery.

Conversations with amber – this is what the exhibition is all about. In some way jewellery artist`s dialog with amber is a battle of two giants, where outstanding sense of the material and intellectual investment is needed. It is still upon discussion how much amber should be intervened by changing it, for it not to be destroyed. Every amber piece is unique in its colour, form and texture – therefore it is very important to preserve its natural beauty by adjusting the design of the jewellery piece to the amber not adjusting the amber to the design.

Amber has been through a lot and it is a powerful conversation companion, who asks for a partner of the same intelligence – the jewellery artist, the jewellery piece wearer and also the viewing audience.

In this exhibition we come from a conversation about the amber to a conversation about ourselves in 21st century and about marks that we will leave for the upcoming generations. The cultural experience of the amber and its existence in the global space is as much as inseparable and interrelated as the mark that the Universe has left in each amber piece.
