SUMMER OPENING FESTIVAL

The art gallery PUTTI invites you to celebrate the coming of SUMMER that has finally and unexpectedly arrived togehter with humming bees and blossoming apple trees… It’s all so close now – the colourful butterflies, the high tide flowers in the sea, the green young leaves in the light of sunrays, the splash of the water made by a frog jumping into the old pond, a nightingale brushing her muddy legs in the plum blooms, the light blue sky that makes you dizzy…

            One can feel the approaching summer and even breath it in admiring the brand new fine art jewelery collections by the jewelry artists Valdis Brože, Guntis Lauders, Jānis Vilks, Māris Auniņš, Anna Fanigina un Aigis Auders. The precious pearls, corals and stones will shine even brighter after the first May rain.

Painter Elizabete Melbārzde will be the special guest of the celebration. The main theme of her works is the world of ballet and its priestesses – the subtle ballerinas so fragile as if woven of haze and sunlit cobwebs. This time Elizabete Melbārzde welcomes summer by painting lips to unknown female portraits, enlivening them into exquisit brooches and pendants. This is the artist’s interpretation of the painted portrait medallions so popular before the invention of photography.
